Fleetwood Mac...

Had the chance to catch up with an old friend at a Wine Seminar yesterday. Mick Fleetwood has started a wine business working with different growers to sell wine under his label. We got to talk some and got these pics. Plus he is going back to Maui in 2 weeks and promised to say hello to John and Julie McVie for me. I bought a great Pinot Noir and 2 Cabernets and 2 Charrdonays, some for me and some for Christmas presents. My sister got another pic of Mick and myself I will publish later when she sends it to me...

Christmas

To my friends and family:
Well it has been along time since I have posted and sorry about that. Between 3 surgeries in 2 months, work, and life I have not been home or myself lately. I haven't even taken a picture in 2 months and that is not like me. I will be getting the stitches out from the last surgery this coming Tuesday and will be returning to work the next day, hopefully with no future set backs in site. With the holidays coming I plan on joining the crew to ski Mammoth and play in the mountains. The snow has been slow to start this season but we know there will be plenty coming our way. I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a great New Year. I hope to have many great adventures and promise to share them with you in story and pictures.

Yosemite Trip...

Just got back from the Fall campout with the crew. This year we were lucky enough to get a chance to camp in Yosemite Valley. The weather started out nice with warm day and nights Friday and Saturday, then changed Sunday afternoon to rain thru Monday morning. I did a great hike to Vernal Falls on Saturday and a wonderful bike ride in the Valley on Sunday. On that bike ride is when we came across a bear in a apple tree having a snack. We were very close and watched for about 15 minutes before he romped out into the meadow to showoff and play. Had a beautiful ride on Monday over Tioga pass and thru Tuolomne meadows and then the June loop for fall colors. There was snow in the high country and a bite in the air, winter is close and so is skiing.
All most 11,000 ft.

Paul Simon concert...

Here are some pics of the Paul Simon concert for my birthday and lucky Rick and I were right next to the stage. Thankyou Joe Doria for the pictures he took...
I know the pics are fuzzy but it is hard to take pictures with spot lights going off. These pics were taken by a friend with a telephoto lens back in the middle of the concert hall...

If you look at the left side of the pic right below that huge Somaon security guard in the blue shirt is my friend Rick and in the Hawaiian shirt is me right next to the stage...

Camp Trip

As you can see by the photos I went camping in the Southern Sierras. It was a great trip with wonderful weather. I camped at over 9,000 ft. and hiked 18 miles in 3 days. Everyday the trails led to lakes at around 11,000 ft. so there was serious uphill hiking in thin air. The snow pack is still intact and there were places where you hiked over the snow to keep on the trail. All the lakes at that altitude were snow rimmed as you can see by the pics. The referance to Watermelon snow is when the sun has baked the glacerial snow an algae grows in the snow pack that looks like somebody dumped pink paint on the snow. It looks and smells like watermelon hence the name. You have to look hard at the pic to see the tint that the camera barely shows. I feel at home in this envirnment and look to spend more time in this type setting. May life give me the chance to enjoy these type of trips again...

That time again...

Well things in the garden are coming along nicely. My first cactus flowers are open and the Hawaiian plumerias are just starting to open. The bananas, pineapples, and ginger are a little behind but growing fast. Looks like another wonderful season in my garden...

Underneath this mountain of snow is the reststop and bathrooms for the Mt. Rose Highway summit. The pic of a sign on my blog below was taken in the same spot last summer. Now it will be next summer before you will see what is underneath again...
